Stirring Up Connection at The Carrollton
At The Carrollton New Orleans, good food is always on the menu and so is a good time. That spirit comes alive in Cooking with Culinary, a monthly program led by Culinary Director Maxine Pittman that proves great meals are best served with a side of connection.
Launched last year, the program invites residents to experience the creativity behind the kitchen doors as Maxine demonstrates the preparation of special selections before everyone gets to dig in. From shrimp and grits to bang bang chicken skewers and homemade king cakes, each session is a crowd pleaser.
Residents are encouraged to make requests, turning the program into a true collaboration. As Maxine puts it, “I have a passion for food and creating new recipes. I thought this program would be a great way to introduce different foods to the residents. They tell me they love the activity, the demo, and the food.” At The Carrollton, that recipe is a win.
