Fixing Faucets and Pouring Favorites

At The Carrollton New Orleans, maintenance comes with a splash of fun and a well-shaken cocktail. Miguel Fabre, Maintenance Director, launched Mixing with Maintenance in 2024 after directors throughout the community were invited to create activities with residents.

What began as a once-a-month happy hour quickly became a resident favorite. Demand was so strong it now happens twice each month on Fridays, with residents suggesting drinks and Miguel mixing them up. From Old Fashioneds and apple cider sangria to margaritas, Bloody Marys, Hurricanes, and crowd favorite White Russians, his menu is always under construction. His French 75 and signature Dirty 75 are regular hits, along with resident-inspired creations like the golden spike.

With more than 10 years working in senior living, Miguel says the best part is getting to know residents, hearing their stories, and helping however he can. Turns out he is great at fixing spirits too.
